Buda’s Homestay

A genuine Balinese Experience.

Due to COVID-19 we currently do not accept any bookings.

Unique moments at Buda’s Homestay

Wow, this place is amazing and definitely something for the lone wolves beneath you. The location of this guesthouse is about a hundred meters north of the Dalem temple (‘Pura Dalem’) in Lemukih Ancient Villages. The village is protected by nine main temples that offer classical Balinese art and the uniqueness of ceremonies. You’ll find your self in the middle of nowhere surrounded by lush rice fields, jaw-dropping waterfalls and holy springs. These holy springs play important roles during ceremonies as they are believed to purify the inner and outer self.

The rooms at Buda’s Homestay are simple but decent. But truth being spoken, who needs fancy facilities if you have this one million star view and rich culture right at your doorstep?

Here, now and forever happy.

Meet your host Buda. He is an extraordinary person that has dedicated his life to the village and to achieve happiness. He loves to introduce his guests to his culture and to show them the traditional Balinese way of life. He gives people shelter and homey feeling at his homestay, “because here I have nothing but the intention of happy our guests as much as I can”.

A fellow traveller found this magical place!

All of our gratitude goes to Sven who found this little piece of paradise on earth during his vacation on Bali. He has shared his experience at Buda’s Homestay and let us use his pictures. Thanks, bro! Below is a short review from his stay translated to English. Sit back, grab a coffee and enjoy!

“We were in North Bali at the Fiji Waterfalls when we found this little Homestay in the middle of Paradise by coincidence. You can enjoy amazing rice field views and just beside the fields is a holy spring what makes this place somewhat mystical. There are no tourists, which is why the locals over there are still very loving and genuinely hospitable. Our host – Buda – took us on a secret trek through the rice fields of Lemukih to the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen in my life. After that, we were invited to take a shower in the holy spring.

In the evening Buda took us to a spot on a hill where we watched the sunset over the rice terraces. Our plan was to stay only one night but in the end, we stayed three nights. This was one of the best experiences we have had during our Bali holiday, not only because of the stunning setting but also because of the lovely host who invited us to peek into the Balinese religion and culture.

Everyone who seeks a genuine and original Bali experience should stay at least one night at “Lemukih Ancient Village” Homestay and trek the waterfalls with Buda. I was so happy staying there. In the end, I gladly paid for this great stay.”

  1. Simply rich

A beautiful family on a beautiful piece of land. Warm souls and delicious warm food. A fine balance of social interaction and solitude. Insightful wisdom and historical knowledge. I found my stay at Budas to be a rich reminder of the essence of life. I recommend to everyone to visit here and to soak in the rich waterfalls of the area and the energy of this blessed family 🙏🏼

  4. Best homestay in Lemukih

Top!

  5. Schönstes Erlebnis in Bali

  6. Perfect place to relax

After busy Canggu and Ubud, this place was perfect to relax and enjoy the real Bali. Food was excellent and Buda and his family very friendly.

  7. Perfect Place for some days in Bali’s nature in the north

I had a wonderful time at Buda‘s homestay.
Buda and his family and friends are all very lovely and always happy to help.

On my way to lemukih from the airport, Domi told me a lot about the culture, the religion and history of Bali and his village. We stopped by the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan for a short visit.

The homestay is sweet, simple but very nice. In the middle of ricefield, quit and perfect for some relaxing days without tourists and traffic.

The tour with Buda was very good! He showed us the ricefields, typical fruits, explained more about Hinduism and the way of thinking.
    The waterfalls are amazing!

I can really recommend to stay with Buda and enjoy some nice days in lemukih.

  8. The best place to stay in Bali!

This homestay was the best place where i have been stayed in Bali. The family is very friendly and this place have a very good atmosphere.

  9. Fantastic place and people

It was one of our greatest places in Bali!
Fantastic and very lovely people 👍
    In the middle of nature.

  10. A place to be outside the tourist resorts

What a wonderful place! Very nice and friendly host family, simple but very clean accommodation with a small SPA, good and healthy food. All wishes are fulfilled! Visits to the nearby waterfalls Fiji and Sekumpul are highly recommended, as well as the hike through the surrounding rice fields.
Buda and his family are very concerned about the well-being of the guests.
If you are looking for a quiet environment and want to experience Bali’s typical life away from the tourist resorts, then a visit to Buda’s Homestay in Lemukih is highly recommended.
Thank you Buda, your wife and the three girls for the nice stay. I will visit you again.

  11. Amazing people at a amazing place!

Buda and everyone from the staff were honestly the nicest people we met in Bali! We can only recommend staying at this place. And don’t leave without making the day trip with Buda, he shows you amazing places! Thank you so much!! 🙂

  13. secret paradise

Buddha and his family are hands down the nicest people on earth!
They really take an effort to make sure that their guest have an awesome stay. His wife makes awesome food and there is also a little spa attached to the homestay. Buddha also organizes tours to show the guests the beautiful surrounding of Lemukih and explains everything without rushing. If you want to relax after all the busy and touristy places and see the real authentic Bali, this is your place to go!

  14. Fantastic Homestay

We had such a great time at Budas Homestay. He always made sure, that we are happy an feeling well. We had a tour not with Buda but with his friend Dodi. Also Dodi was a really nice person and we had a great tour to the waterfalls with him.
The Homestay is in a quit area and is really good for relaxing but also for doing rice field or waterfall tours. Everyone in this Homestay was exceedingly nice and as i was sick the days in Lemukih, they helped me getting better.
Thank you so much for everything!

  15. Beautiful nature and warm hospitality

Just as the other reviewers here wrote it was a wonderful experience to be at the homestay. A big thank you to Buda and his family for the warm and caring atmosphere they create. The nature that surrounds the homestay is simply paradise to me.

  16. Highlight of Bali

Buda is one of the kindest, happiest and wisest people from Bali! We loved our stay and the waterfall tour on which we learned a lot about Balinese culture and life! Thanks a lot.

  18. Highlight of Bali vacation

From all the homestays we’ve spend time in Buda’s homestay was the best. When we arrived in this quite area his lovely children and Buda himself welcomed us to this extraordinary place! From the terasse of your cottage you have a beautiful view over the green rice fields which belong to Buda’s property so you can take a walk alone or with his two doughters through the fascinating area.
Although there aren’t supermarkets close you don’t have to stay hungry because Buda’s family take care of ordering and delivery of delicious food from a cheap Warung close.
We totally can recommend the tour to the waterfalls and rice fields with Buda because it gives you the best impression of the beautiful nature of Bali. In addition Buda kindly tells you everything about Bali and the balinese way of life.
Next time we’ll definetly come for a visit again!

  19. We are since a week back in Switzerland from our holidays and still thinking about our lovely stay at Buda`s Homestay for two nights. Buda is such a great host, and Lemukih is truly a rare and beautiful place in Bali.

  20. Best time ever! LOVED IT

We just had the best time ever at Buda’s beautiful Homestay. Not only the scenery right in the rice field is amazing, but also Buda himself and his family are incredibly friendly and amazing people. When they tell you about their way of living and explain what they believe in, it’s really makes you question some of our European habits. We can only recommend this beautiful place to everybody who wants to experience the real Bali. We were really sad leaving this secret paradise and will for sure come back one day!

  21. An extraordinary experience in the middle of nowhere

Our stay at Buda‘s was a very special experience. The house with view on the ricefield was wonderful. We slept very well with the sounds of animals and nature. Buda is such a special human being. We really enjoyed our time at this magical and peaceful place.

  22. grateful & thankful!

We had a magical time at Buda’s and especially with Buda himself. He taught us a lot about Hinduism and it really felt like a spiritual journey to us. This place is not comparable to any other in Bali – after leaving we recognized this more and more, which was sometimes even a bit painful. If you are looking for rather a deep than a luxurious experience, go there and dive in. Also Buda’s whole family is super lovely and supportive – they really embody the hinduistic way of universal love. Besides that the scenery and places to go are stunning. You can even see the milky way at night! Also food and drinks were very yummy. Go there before this place will also be flooded by superficial tourists.

  23. Fantastic!

I highly recommend this lovely homestay. It was a very nice experiences. The room is clean and really nice. They have everything what you need. I really want to stay again at Budas Homestay. He explained me also his culture which was very intresting. The food at the homestay was delicious. The family lovely. The daughters also showed me Balinese Dance. The whole stay was fantastic! One of my favorites places to stay! Thank you Buda and his family.

  24. Finding happiness in simplicity 🙂

Hands down the best real authentic bali experience one can have. I stayed in Lemukih during my 5 week bali solotravel for two nights and did the day tour with buda. He took me to the most beautiful nature bali has to offer while giving me insights in different topics like hinduism, how the people in lemukih live and the fruits growing around the area. He also gave me some good life advice and inspired me to see the world a little bit easier and simpler. The homestay is very simple aswell but you have everything you need, the family is super nice and the food is great. it’s been probably my most favourite place during these 5 weeks and would definitely recommend it if you want to escape the bali-tourism and see bali in another light.

  25. That's the real Bali!

We spent two nights in lemukih and can definitely say it was the best experience of our whole trip. This is one of the last places you can visit the real and authentic Bali. We booked the day tour with our host buda to explore the beautiful nature around the village, that’s something we would definitely 100% recommend since the day was pure magic. We saw the most beautiful places and had them to ourselves without any other tourists. We would also recommend taking enough cash, because the nearest atm is an about 30min drive north. Plus they serve the best breakfast on the island! Thank you so much to buda and his family.

  26. A great 1000-Star homestay with lovely family

We spent two nights at Buda’s Homestay and it was fantastic. The family was so open-minded, polite and lovely. It was a simple, clean room but it was in the pure nature and a perfect place to relax. We did a waterfall tour which was so funny and Buda and Mari showed us everything there. In the evening we played with the children of the family and it was so nice. They also have a Spa and the massage there was very good. One evening the girls showed us a balinese dance and we could dance with them. We are still in contact with the family. If we come to Bali a second time, we will come to you again! We wish Buda and the whole family all the best!

  27. The most beautiful place on earth!

The moment when I arrived at Budas Homestay I immediately felt so peaceful and calm. The view is breathtaking and Buda and his family are super kind and welcoming. He showed us the beautiful nature nearby and took us on adventure! They also cooked delicious food for us ❤️ Budas homestay is like a paradise on heart, away from the chaotic touristic attraction, just pure balinese love!

  28. Unforgettable lovely homestay

We had such a nice stay at Buda´s place. Especially our tour with Buda to the Lemukih waterfalls – we will never forget it 🙂 Buda and his family are so lovely and we had fantastic three days there. We highly recommend this accommodation!

  29. Our best days at Bali!!!

    Our best days at Bali!!!
Don’t expect luxury (cold showers and you might run into a mouse or rat), but you will get so much more!
Beautiful surroundings and such a heart warming family.
We had a great day with Buda and his lovely daughter Marie visiting the waterfalls. We will never forget this.
Hopefully one day we will return…
Dutch travellers, bring them stroopwafels 😊

  30. Calm and relaxed stay. Beautiful view and awesome tour.

The stay was an amazing experience. The whole area is made up really beautiful and calm with an astonishing view over a valley of rice fields and the jungle on the other side. At night there is an unbelievable good smell of some plant growing around the homestay.
The rooms are pretty simple with no warm water, but some rooms have it, though. They also have a little Spa.
The best thing while we were staying the three nights was the whole-day-tour with budha. After that you can forget every other jungle/waterfall/rice-terrace/waterslide tour in Bali. Here you get the best with the nicest guide you can imagine.

  31. Stay there!

We were just one night there. So sad for us, because it is just a beautiful quiet place to be in the middle of bali.Budda and his family are so nice, friendly and helpful. He give us a tour (very spontanious) throw the rice fields, to the beautiful waterfalls and showed us the little things in the nature that we wouldnt see. The room was very clean and comfortable. The Breakfast very special with lost of fruits.

  32. Nice and quiet place in the midst of beautiful rice fields

We stayed for three nights at this beautiful place and can highly recommend it for people who love to have some calm time in nature. The accommodation is simple but sufficient, and the breakfast was definitely one of the best we had in Bali so far. Buda and his family are friendly and happy people and will surely do the best to make you feel good and welcomed. Make sure to go on a tour with Buda to visit the great waterfalls nearby. The massage at the spa on Budas property is also recommendable. Terima kasih :).

  33. Great and lovely Homestay

Buda and his daughter Mari as well as his whole family are wonderful, caring and lovely people. They made us feel comfortable right away. They cooked extra food when my partner had an upset stomach. His Homestay is in the middle of almost nothing – only jungle, a river and rice fields. It truely felt like a rare opportunity to see some of the original Bali.

  34. Lost in paradise

Most beautiful place in the world! This place is surrounded by love ! Come and see you will never leave ❤️ Nicole and Manon

  35. Authentic Bali with your new family

After all these good reviews we took a stop at Buda’s Homestay and stayed there for two nights. And we are not disappointed!
The place is wonderful: the nature, the view, the atmosphere, the people – just magic.
And immediately after our arrival we joined the kids to try out the “house waterslide” as we are part of the family. The dinner is simple but good and very tasty, the bed comfortable.
On the next day we took the half day tour with Budda who showed us the rice fields, told us a bit about the farming, the planting and replied to all our questions very friendly with good knowledge. The 30m waterslide was a lot of fun and only for the two of us, perfect. We jumped from 2m high rock into water and did some tracking through “the jungle” to the two waterfalls, Fiji and Sekumpul, which was a great experience. Thanks also for the fresh Maracuja and Banana!
Back at home, the girls showed us some Balinese dances, it was very good and so funny when the younger girls joined. It really felt like being part of the family.
Also the massage was very good.
I can recommend this place to everyone who wants to finally get to know the “real” Bali, the wonderful wild nature and the beloved people.
Thanks for the two days, we will come back.

  36. Buda and the whole Family is super nice. If you want to experience the real Bali with great nature you should visit this Homestay. It was definitely one of my highlights in Bali.

  37. Simply perfect

First of all: lemukih is so much worth a trip, it‘s beautiful! But it gets even better with a guide like Buda. He wasn‘t only a great guide, who was able to give us so many Information, but he was always good and enjoyable company!
Everything about our weekend at Budas Homestay was amazing and so memorable.
    Terima kasih Buda!

  38. Peace

We where there about one year ago and it was one of the nicest places in Bali. Buda and his famaily are so nice and they take realy care abot you. We can recommend this place to everybody who is searching for a place of peace and harmony. Go there and you will know what I mean.
    Best wishes. Lukas and Luisa.

  39. Amazing!

We had the best time at Buda‘s Homestay. The family is very welcoming. The food, the fresh fruits, the room, the view and the day tour to the waterfalls were awesome. Thank you again! We highly recommend.

  40. One of the best days in my life

Our time at Budas homestay was awesome! Buda is one of the kindest people i’ve ever met and thanks to him and his family our stay in Lemukih was the best time i had in Bali! He also took us on a tour through the djungle and it was one of the best experiences in my life!
    Thank you Buda!!

  41. Don't miss out Buda's Homestay

Buda’s Homestay and himself are unique. We felt really welcomed by him and his family, his place is created with so much detail and love. It’s in the middle of the jungle with a view on the ricefields. The rooms are simple but clean and our bed was comfortable.
We also did the full day tour with Buda which was simply amazing, we had such a good tour and Buda really tries to make you feel as comfortable as possible 🙂

  42. unforgettable

My stay at Budas Homestay was a stay never to forget. All the reviews are correct and all my expectation where fulfilled and blown away. Lemukih is a wonderful village and the ricefields there at the prettiest onces i have seen on Bali. Buda and his family are the kindest. If you open your heart for them, they open your heart to you. Buda made my stay so special, trying to adapt a program to my wishes, and since i really wanted to get to know the local way of living, breathing the magical energy of Bali, he brought me to the most quiet waterfalls and holy water spring. I will never forget the 5 days in Lemukih, i can recommend it to everyone.

  43. Unforgetable

It is the discover of our trip to Bali. Don’t expect a luxury place but it’s still a peace of paradise on the earth. Located in the midle of rice fields, near to the amazing and breathtaking waterfalls, this is not yet the best part. Staying there means you will get part of a Balinese family. Buda will take you to unforgetable hiden places and will enlight your day with his smile and great heart, his wife Widiastini will cook goodes food for you and all 3 dauthers Angel, Seri and especialy Mari will make your stay a bless. Everything you need to do is just to enjoy.

  44. Don't miss this Place on your Bali-Trip

We just loved everything about our stay at Buda’s Homestay. The rooms are basic but everything you need, Buda and his family are so welcoming and nice! Food is great, best breakfast of our Trip! The Tour with Buda was worth every penny, because he will show you the beauty of his Village and knows a lot to tell!!
Thank you so much!! Hope your daughter can take some German classes soon! She is already doing great!!

  45. This homestay got my heart!

We had such an amazing stay in Buda’s homestay! The rooms are nice and have the vest view, we have ever experienced. Buda and his family are so nice and try to give you the best experience and especially a real balinese feeling!
We have stayed here two times up to now and will definitely come back if we are on Bali again 🙂 Just a must-see and must-go on every Bali-trip!
Thank you for having us, Buda! Hopefully see you again 🙂

  46. Amazing place in pure nature !

If you’re looking for more nature and less tourists this is the place to go. It was quiet. The rooms were basic. No wifi. Which was totally fine for us. We had a wonderful time. It’s in the middle of nowhere. Simply pure nature. Our host Buda was so friendly, open-minded and so warm-hearted and happy. We got free breakfast and dinner which was really jummy. We didn’t have to pay right away. You pay at the end of your stay and how much it is worth to you. There is no fix price. Buda took us to hidden places like waterfalls, rice beautiful and an unforgettable experience. Thank you.

  47. Amazing Homestay

It was such a lovely experience to stay at Buda’s homestay! We really enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed to feel good 🙂
Buda and his family are all so friendly and they did everything and even more for us, to have a perfect time. We got breakfast, lunch, dinner and also tea & coffee all day long.
The room has no air condition, but a mosquito net and even shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. So you cannot expect luxury, but who needs luxury at such a wonderful place?! 🙂
Moreover we made a tour with Buda the whole day long and he told us a lot about the balines culture and everything else we wanted to know.

All in all we want to say thank you for making our time in Lemukih so special and great! 🙂
    We will be back!
    Dani & Markus

  48. Love, love, love!

I loved staying in Lemukih with Buda and his family. The location is enchanting, the room basic but good and the food (breakfast as well as diner) very yummie. Also Buda arranged a very friendly guide to visit the waterfalls, we had so much fun!
I will never forget the sound of the nights at Buda’s homestay. Magic!

  49. Wonderful energizing place and people

Buda shows you around, tells you a lot about the region and he makes local food for you. You pay as much as you want for the additional cooking 😉

  50. Most amazing stay during our trip

We spend three nights at Buda´s homestay and I wished we could have stayed longer. The place has a relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful scenery and a host family who could not have been more kind. Buda took us for a trip through the rice fields to the local waterfalls and water slides and answered all of our questions.
We were offered a sweet breakfast, delicious lunch and amazing dinner every day of our stay. This was a true million star experience and an absolute must for everyone who wants to experience some of Balis realistic and pristine places, that are not overrun by tourists.
I am already planning on coming back and wish Buda and his family only the best for their future and the treasures they are providing to travelers.

  51. My favorite homestay in Bali!

I had an amazing time at Buda’s homestay. The family is extremely nice and the location just wonderful. You won’t find any luxury, but a clean cozy room in the middle of rice fields and the jungle.
If you’d like to visit the Northern part of Bali with it’s beautiful nature (especially the waterfalls!) and experience Balinese family life with great food and other cool guests, you should come here!

  52. Unity of great hospitality, amazing nature and spirituality

Just can agree with previous reviews, staying with Buda’s family was the highlight on my trip to Bali. I think there’s no other place, where hospitality, amazing nature and spirituality are united in that way. Definitely a must see.

  54. Great Host!

What a wonderful Place! Budda and his family were so nice and always caring about us. They are very generous People. Thank you so much for these two unforgetable days!

  55. The only place worth visiting in Bali

Some would say simple, no comfort and boring because there are no restaurants or bars. I SAY: It is the best place we found in Bali!!!! Amazing surrounding, chillout-gazebos (where you can listen the jungle noises in the evenings), lovely decorated bungalows, palatable food, tasty mangosteen or ginger tea and balinese coffee. The jungle tour to the ricefields and waterfalls was breathtaking. Away from the tourits flows you can imagine how beatiful Bali is.
Thanks and all the best wishes for Buda and his family!!

  56. Best experience you can get if you wanna see the true Bali

Even if everybody says you won’t have any luxury there and it is simple… I think it is amazing! The room was so clean and nicely arranged! Buda and his family took the best care of us.
They fulfilled every wish we had and we had the chance to get a glimpse in the true balinese lifestyle.
Yes, the room is not big, the shower is cold, and there are a lot of small animals you hear through the night 😉 But actually we had our most relaxed and best time during our whole time on Bali!
Whenever I am there again I will visit Buda and his family!

  57. just amazing

The two nights at Buda’s homestay were definitely the highlight on our trip through Indonesia.
Buda and his family are super friendly and open-minded. We had interesting talks with Buda about Hinduism and their way of life – which was super interesting for us.
The view from the homestay over the rice fields was stunning and we had the best tour to waterfalls we could ever imagine.

  58. Just perfect

    Just perfect

  59. We woke up in the middle of a beautiful scenery surrounded by rice fields and the forest. Buda and his family are exceptionally kind and helpful and made this the best night we had in Bali.
If we ever come back to Indonesia this will most definitely be one of our stops.
The tour to the waterfalls and through rice fields was also beautiful and our tourguide was very sweet and funny.
So all in all we would recommend this place to everyone.

  60. Amazing experience

Such a wonderful experience – fantastic area, stunning view, such lovely people and great food too! Simple and just amazing.

  61. What a place!

I had a incredible time with Budha and his family. This stay was the highlight of my trip to Bali and Flores. Thank you so much! I can highly recommand to go there!

  62. Absolute Must while in Bali!

Our stay with Buda was definitely one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Indonesia. Buda and his family made us feel at home instantly and did everything they could to accomodate us.

Buda took us to see the waterfalls in the area and explained a lot about the area while we were hiking here. We had a lot of fun and shared many laughs together.

His wife cooked breakfast, lunch and even dinner for us and it was delicious every time – it’s a great feeling to be eating rice that grew in the ricefields right in front of your eyes 🙂

We also met Buda’s daughters who were simply charming and practiced their English skills with us.

All in all, we had the best time at Buda’s Homestay and we will be sure to come again, once we’re back in Bali. It’s just a great way to explore the untouched Bali – far from tourist centers such as Ubud and meet lovely people such as Buda along the way!

  65. Authentic Bali in the middle of paradise!

I could write a long review about our experience at Buda’s and talk about every magical experience. But instead I’ll second the words of those before me and not explain everything in detail. What I will say is that if you are hesitant about getting away and off the grid for a few days, don’t be! Spend more than one night to truly emerse yourself in what Buda and his family have to offer. We stayed 3 nights and it was by far the highlight of our 3-week trip to Indonesia! You get attentive service, amazing home cooked meals, most beautiful scenery, a personalized waterfall experience and a true sense of village life and learn about the people and culture. Get away from the hectic tourist pace and relax! Stay and you won’t regret it!!

  66. Most beautiful Homestay of Bali!

My friend and I stayed two nights at Buda’s homestay and the days with him and his wonderful family turned out to be two of the best days in my life so far! Buda and his family life in the midst of a lush green rice terrace with beautiful plants everywhere, you genuinely feel like you’re in paradise! When we arrived at Buda’s place we were welcomed very warm-heartedly and immediately felt at home! Buda’s wife provided us with the most delicious food, tea and fried banana all around the clock. The second day of our stay, Buda organized a trip with us to the Lemukih waterfalls which was stunning! We walked trough the jungle to the waterfalls and lunch in the warung “Fiji” afterwards. We also went to a natural waterslide and had a lot fun there! I’ll never forget the time with Buda and his family and I am more than grateful for all the experiences I’ve gathered! Love, Marie

  67. Lovely stay at Buda's Homestay

Me and my boyfriend stayed three nights at Buda’s Homestay and had a wonderful time. Buda and his family was the most lovely host a visitor could imagine. We organized everything for us, from transportation to a hiking tour on Mount Batur. We even got a private tour to the waterfalls, organized by him and we did not even planned on doing it. It was such an amazing tour though and the people we met that day were super friendly. I think it was the best location we could stay at to explore the beautiful north of Bali. We lived in the middle of the rice terraces and natur, however the rooms were super clean and the beds super comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to stay for a few nights.

  68. Don't miss it!

Buda’s Homestay is exceptional. Buda, his family and his friends were the loveliest people I ever met in a homestay. He welcomed us warmheartedly and we had some tea and fried banana with him and his family and friends. The next day he took us to an amazing waterfall tour, as described in the other reviews. In the evening, we had some Bintang with him and we talked a lot about different cultures and he explained everything about his culture.
Buda and his family also provided every meal for us. The room we had had a western toilet and was simple but carefully and lovingly furnished.
We think it has been our best stay in Bali and would recommend to everyone to take this adventure and the chance to meet Buda. 🙂

  69. Best experience!

We organized for Buda to show us the ricefields and the waterfalls.
It was such a wonderful day! A driver from our hotel in Lovina drove us there and then Buda and a friend brought us into the ricefields by scooter. Our first stop was a little Warung where we got fresh coconuts and could swing over the ricefields! (Best view ever!). He told us a lot about the area and the life there.
Then we continued on foot to the waterfalls. Buda was very attentive and so nice and friendly and gave us all the time we wanted to appreciate the great spots he took us to. He took a lot of lovely fotos and videos of us. After we climbed all the steps back up again, we had a lovely lunch in a treehouse with the most beautiful view you can imagine!
Since we only booked the “half day trip” our time with Buda was supposedly over, but we extended our visit and went to the waterslides with him. To get there, we drove through the beautiful ricefields by scooter and it was simply stunning!
The slides where of course a lot of fun, and again everyone was very attentive and friendly.
All in all, it was a super great trip and the best outing we did in north Bali! I would recommend this to everyone! Don’t miss out on this experience and Buda’s hospitality!
Thank you Buda, for a day we will never forget!
    Janna and Daniel

  70. Authentic Bali

I want to recommend this place to absolutely everyone I know! Buda and his family are so friendly and welcoming. Expect to be treated a bit like a family member. The Homestay is in the middle of nowhere so it’s quiet and there is beautiful nature and rice fields all around. Buda will take you to see the stunning waterfalls and in other tours if you stay a bit longer. If you are looking for an authentic Bali experience this is your place!!!

  71. Awesome, authentic, absolutely perfect! Don’t miss that experience!

I don’t know if I can describe this place! The family is more then likeable, they are everytime there for you and make your stay as comfortable as you can imagine! You will feel like a part of the family and you will learn a lot about the balinese culture. The rooms are prepared with love, like everything else here! The surrounding is like a paradise! We are so glad that we could stay here, it was the most authentic and also the best time we had on Bali!
Buda organized a trip to really impressive waterfalls for us and also the transport to our next stay (there was a visit in a Tempel with local guide included)! There are any little cottages which invite you to relax and to enjoy the great view, you can take a natural shower close to the ricefields, you can practice yoga or meditation at this magical place….And you have to try the luwak coffee here ( they collect it in the wild nature and prepare it by themselves, so no worries about the cats! Thank you Buda!)
If we will come back to Bali, we will come back to Buda‘s Homestay and we will recommend it, of course! Thank you for this experience and thank you for giving us so much!

  72. Getting to know the "real" Bali

Our time in Lemukih was definitely the best we had during our holiday in Bali!
Buda and his Family are wonderful people and their home is just beautiful.
It was an amazing experience to get away from the big tourist spots in Bali and live in the jungle with Budas family.
Buda showed us the most beautiful waterfalls, rice terraces and rainforest areas.

  73. Our happy place

Actually we didn’t want to leave this place because it was the best time we’ve had in Bali. It’s the real Bali – simple, but because of that and the nature – you live in between ricefields and jungle – so special and magical. Buda and his family are such warmhearted and friendly. You feel as a member of them. They really care for you. We’ve got breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruits in between, tea, coffee, everything you need. The trips Buda organized for us were inspiring. We’ve been to the waterfalls that are just WOW. And Buda himself is inspiring and spiritual as well. You learn so much from him about the way how Balinese see life and also about yourself. Thank you, Buda, for the experiences, we will never forget.
Gede, a family member and our driver in this time, is also so warmhearted and friendly. He showed us a lot of temples and special places in Bali and explained Bali culture so well to us. Thank you, Gede, for your great company.
Hopefully we can come back sometime!

  74. Most inspiring place ever seen

We planned to stay only one night at Buda’s but extended our stay to three nights the moment we arrived. This place is beautiful: We enjoyed the view over the ricefields and the natural shower down at the spring. Buda himself is inspiring! You immediately feel welcomed. He is such a warm hearted person and a lovely host. He has so much knowledge about the culture and that place and is happy to share it with you. He has an answer to all your questions. Buda organised a trip to the waterfalls, ricefields and natural springs for us which we really enjoyed. We can totally recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience the real Balinese culture, get to know the most adorable Balinese family and see some places of Bali that are not (yet) full of tourists. Please help to keep the place the way it is.

Thank you Buda for your hospitality, pure charisma and all the happy moments we shared. We will often think about you and hope to meet you again one day!

  75. Genuine Bali experience

We have heard of Buda and Lemukhi from a friend. Wanted to have some genuine experience of Bali and thats exactly what we got!
Buda is the most joyfull, hospitable and helpful person I have meet on Bali. His happiness and peacefulness really touches you. He is a great host with his family and friends, made meals for us, organised a trek to see the waterfalls (which are AMAZiNG) and showed us real Bali.

    Highly recommend!

  76. Woooooowwww!

What can I say? Buda’s Homestay is so beautiful and nice, it’s hard to describe it with words or even pictures. Actually you have to experience it.
The place is really magical: situated next to a small river, in between beautiful rice fields and trees, it is easy to relax and find peace here. There are several spots created where you can just sit down and enjoy, not to mention a natural pool with a small waterfall. I really loved the swing on top with a fantastic view over the rice fields.
Buda’s family does everything with so much love and passion. The food is really delicious, you get breakfast, lunch and dinner if you want. I really loved the fried banana and ginger tea in between.
Buda organizes really beautiful and fun trips to the waterfalls nearby. And he is supporting many local people with this.
I can say I had the best time during my Bali trip here in Lemukih. Thank you for what you are doing and the way you are doing it. You are doing a great job!
Thank you so much for letting me be your guest and all your love. I will definitely come back some day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Absolutely no words can’t ever describe this experience. Never and nowhere have we felt so much love, joy and satisfaction. We came as strangers and left as family. Buda with his arms and heart wide open will make you feel like home and bring you to all the beautiful places around his home and will take care of you exceptionally.
You can enjoy a natural shower in the middle of ricefields, swing over the stunning green valley, listen to geckos, frogs and creeks as bedtime story and experience so much love from this wonderful family.
We will definitely come back to this warming and magical place!
    Lena and Anna

  78. very warm and welcoming family

we spent 3 days with Buda and really enjoyed it. The huts are very basic but clean and the view from the huts into the jungle and the amazingly beautiful rice field is more than worth it. Buda and his family are super friendly and more than engaged to make your stay as comfortable as possible. we also did a day trip to the waterfalls around lemukih which was very nice. I would recommend to go rather early in the morning (we started at 9am) in order to be the first ones at the waterfall. Lemukih got a bit famous and tourists are starting to come now. wo if you want a stunning waterfall all to yourself start your day early 🙂 food was simple but very delicious and there was always plenty of it. also try the ginger tea! 🙂
thanks Buda and Family for the amazing stay. will definetly recommend your homestay.
one day the water pipeline was not working so we had to shower etc. in the spring down at the river. this was very beautiful and we kept going there for the rest of the stay even when the water worked again. it was so refreshing and beautiful to shower in the nature.

  79. Our trip with Buda was just amazing. First he took us to a local Warung which had an amazing and untouched view over the rice terraces. After that we walked down to the waterfalls. He made sure we got the best view and helped us through the water. After the hike back up we had lunch at the Warung. The food was amazing and Buda told us more about the village and balinise culture. He is one of the nicest people we met on our trip and by far one of the most inspiring days. Thank you Buda for your time. We highly recommend to book a tour with him.

  80. Genuine Bali Experience in the Mountains

Buda’s homestay is beyond comparison – his and his family’s hospitality and kindness outstanding! The homestay is located in the midst of the jungle, facing rice fields, surrounded by mountains and the sound of the nearby river and geckos.

As a host and guide, Buda organized trips even to the top(!) of the Sekumpul Waterfalls, to a ceremony at his family temple, to the rice fields, to an instrument maker’s home in the village, to an unknown temple and more.

Even more than for these genuine Bali experiences, I have to thank Buda for the precious moments with him and his family who made me feel at home. I’ve stayed twice during my trip and will definitely come back!

    Also good to know:
1.) There is no WIFI in the jungle/at this place.
2.) You decide what you want to pay in the end of your stay [Febr. 2018].

All in all: Don’t miss this hidden gem out of the touristic places!

  82. Just wonderful!

We’ve had the most amazing time at Buda’s Homestay. It is newly built, rooms are basic and clean and have very comfortable beds (but only cold showers). Nights are wonderfully cool in this mountainous area of Bali. Fresh air, beautiful nature, far away from the crowds and the noise of South Bali. Buda and his family are such incredible hosts. Amazing local food with lots of snacks and fresh fruits, a lovely gazebo overlooking rice paddies, and Buda took us to all the beautiful spots nearby (waterfalls, walking around the rice fields, a water slide)… Buda was happy to share his knowledge and have long, deep conversations with us. This was by far the best experience of my time in Bali, really a non-touristic, unspoilt way to learn about Balinese culture. I can’t thank you enough, and I can’t recommend this homestay enough. Absolutely love that it’s donation based. You give what you can and what you think is appropriate. This really shows the beautiful characters of the host family. I’ll definitely be back!

  83. My favorite place in Bali! You get everything

Staying with Buda’s family was the highlight of my two months travel in the island!

You don’t need to do any planning, just arrive and relax, because Buda will take you everywhere and you will experience the genuine Bali with him.
We where lucky enough to be there for Galungan, the most important festivity in Bali. They dressed us with traditional balinese clothing and took us to the temple, where they introduced us to the priest and their neighbours.
You will find everything around Lemukih village, impressive waterfalls and fun water slides, rice fields, temples and ceremonies, traditional farmers and maybe even a delightful balinese dance performed by Buda’s daughters.

Lemukih is out of the tourist circuit, so locals welcome you with open arms and have genuine interest in connecting with you.

Gede’s meals are simple but always tasty, her fried banana and ginger tea are delicious!

Her three daughters, Angel, Shri and Mari are always up to play, they love going to the waterslide and they are learning english fast and will make you laugh non stop.

I loved it so much I went back for another visit! This family has a big heart and are really proud to share their little piece of paradise with everyone. I’m grateful for the time we shared!

  84. it's just perfect.

I never met as lovely people as Buda and his family before. They welcome everyone so warmhearted, that you almost feel like a part of his family. Buda shows his guests some special Bali-views far away from the “normal touri stuff”, which does not mean you won’t see waterfalls and rice fields. It means, you don’t only see them, you experience them! Beside hidden water slides and funny scooter drives through the jungle you can swim under the waterfall and you’ll definitely get the best Bali-food ever (ask for the chicken soup! ;)) I don’t want to tell too much, everybody should come here to make his own experiences to get impressed!
I stayed there twice and I would ever come back. The perfect Bali-experience and one of the highlights of my semester abroad!
I wish you all the best, Buda! See you next time.

  85. Picture Book Bali

Amazing stay!! We loved to sleep right in the jungle, facing ricefields, mountains and palmetrees and hear the sounds of the river and all the tropical animals. 🙂 Buda and his family were absolutely friendly, cooked delicious vegetarian meals and guided us to the most impressive waterfalls. Lemukih is a hidden paradiese, Bali at its best!! And the family took really good care of us. Highly recommending to anyone who is looking for an authentic hideaway and has no problem with a basic (but comfy and clean!!) room and indonesian toilette. I think there are two other rooms that have western toilettes.

And: Loved that Buda has a water refill station and takes really good care of the nature!!

  86. Paradise for water-lovers

I love water and I have been in paradise with Buda’s perfect guiding!

The waterfalls are amazing and you can have a bath or a shower in this clean, cool water. The water-slide is amazing and so funny, too!

Buda took me everywhere on his scooter (and this alone is an adventure). I also loved the calm of the rice fields and the swing with overwhelming view to the area.

The food and drinks Buda prepared for me, were delicious. By the way, it’s a fruit-paradise, too.

So thanks again for sharing your homestay and all your lovely places around there, with me!

  88. Never forget...

.. the days we spent with Buda, Gede and their family. It was such a lovely experience. You stay right in front of the rice fields in the middle of nowhere. Five Minutes walk from the Homestay is a natural pool and a big natural waterslide. You will have a lot of fun there!
Buda & Gede cannot offer you a fancy room with modern facilities but they can show you a world of pure happiness and charity (by the way: the room is clean, cozy and comes with everything you need for your stay!).

They showed us the rice fields in their village, guided us to the amazing waterfalls in the area, they climbed on palms for a fresh coconut for us. Also they offer a sweet breakfast, a fantastic lunch and you can order something for dinner if you like. They take care of everything. We even got a balinese dance from the daughters of Buda (Thank you!).

The special thing about the homestay is the price: you decide what you want to give to Buda & Gede in the end of your stay. To be honest, it was hard to think what you pay, because you get the HSH “million star experience” and you get it with the pure heart of Buda and his family!

To cut a long story short: It was an amazing experience full of special moments.

Thank you and all the best

    Stefan & Tina

It is possible to simply book more than 1 room of the same guesthouse. Simply select your first room, enter the dates and the persons and click on ‘book now’. Furthermore go back to the guesthouse page and do the same again!
